Prom is one special night
of your life where you want to look your best, here we provide
you with all the information you need to look drop dead gorgeous
on the night, to make it a night you'll never forget.
Fitness - To tone up your body you should start doing
some kind of fitness or exercises up to 3 months in advance.
Even a simple regime of some step aerobics, yoga, and swimming, each
one once a week for example will do wonders for your body
and health. To look your best, step up the exercise the closer
you get to prom, the 1-6 weeks before being the most crucial.
Skin care - If you want glowing radiant skin for prom,
you will need to treat it carefully beforehand. About a week
before, go to a salon, or buy from a beauty salon some exfoliating
cream, and a loofah. Give yourself a full body scrub down
to remove all dead skin and rejuvenate it. Afterwards treat
your skin with a rich moisturizing treatment to ensure it
is not dehydrated, and will look it's best. Keep moisturizing
your skin after each shower until prom day.
Tan - Not essential, especially if you have been out
in the sun recently. But, if you have been unlucky with the
weather, or are a bit far North to get your skin out under
the sun then there are two alternatives to getting yourself
a nice tan on Prom night. You can go to a tanning salon and
use their sunbeds. But to give this time to take effect, you
need to book an appointment for at least two weeks before
prom for your tan session. This also gives you time to go
back should you need a top up. The other option is simply
to buy fake tan lotion to wear on the night. If you have never
used this before, you want to be very careful not to overdo
it and to make sure it is evenly spread. It is a good idea
a week before prom to do a trial, and apply a thin layer on
your arms, face, neck and legs to make sure you get the desired
effect.
Wax - Stop shaving two weeks before prom, to give your
hair enough time to grow. Then, especially if you have never
had it done before, go to a salon to get a leg and bikini
wax. Don't forget to moisturize your skin afterwards, and
to shave your armpits when you shower before prom night.
Nails - To ensure sparkling nails for prom, don't forget
to book yourself an appointment for a manicure, a few days
before prom. Then, if using nail varnish, pick a shade that
will go with your outfit, and doesn't stand out too much.
Natural skin tones are best, so a peach, or a light pink for
example.
Face, and eyebrows - A couple of days before prom treat
your face,by giving it a gentle scrub with a facial exfoliator
and pore cleanser, then treat it kindly with a full face mask
which you keep on for a few hours to thoroughly cleanse out
your pores, and moisturize. After this, take some tweezers
and pluck your eyebrows to ensure there are no loose hairs.
Start at the bottom of the eyebrow, and pluck away evenly
all the way along. Never pluck from the top. This is the natural
shape of your eyebrow which you want to preserve. Be careful
not to get too carried away and pluck too thin.
Hair - See our section about Outfits for more information
on hair-do's. However, to get your hair looking just perfect
for prom, no matter what your choice of hair-do is: Treat
it with a nourishing conditioner a few days before prom, and
give it a good brushing to ensure it is healthy, nourished,
and there aren't too many loose hairs. Do not wash your hair
on the day of prom, it is always easier to style hair, especially
up-do's if it is not freshly washed. Wash the night before.
